Thrice-crowned Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic endures a 'devastating' injury to his knee.
Triple NBA MVP Jokic sustained a "devastating" knee injury when the Nuggets were defeated by a score of 147-123 to the Miami Heat.
Jokic sustained the injury in the latter stages of the opening half in an inadvertent collision with teammate Jones.
Jones came down on the foot of the big man, who instantly went down to the court clutching his leg.
The veteran player, who tops the NBA season in boards and assists, had a score of 21 points and eight dimes in the contest prior to suffering the problem.
He will undergo an MRI on Tuesday to determine the extent of the problem.
"Instantly, Jokic knew he was hurt," commented Nuggets coach Adelman.
"This is part of the NBA. Whoever that gets hurt, that's gut-wrenching, most notably a player as talented as he is. We will know more on Tuesday."
"We'll move on together. Of course, at this moment, I'm focused about Jokic personally and the frustration of experiencing a situation of that nature."
