This Swine Life: Pig Named Six Seven Spared by Miami Dade County Mayor.
Although not quite at the identical stature as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the Miami-Dade County mayor had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.
“This pig is innocent. She is worthy of this pardon. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the beginning of a current administration.
“Except perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,” she went on. “May this pig enjoy a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”
The gathering, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to emulate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.
The swine, donated by a local firefighter, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people yelling “six seven” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often seemingly at random. The craze became so widespread that a major dictionary recently made “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.
A Peaceful Retirement
This particular pig is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the organizers' announcement.
“The annual pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to kick off the end-of-year celebrations,” said the cafe owner, in a decidedly positive message.
“It embodies the character of Miami: vibrant, multicultural, and grounded in customs that bring people together. Each year, we are delighted to mark heritage and mercy in a way unique to Miami.”
Attendees enjoyed a plant-based fare of croquettes and cafecito as they marked Six Seven’s big moment.
