Shock as Beloved South African DJ Killed in the City of Johannesburg.
A renowned South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the country's largest city Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country battling rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was attacked in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the forty-year-old presenter was accosted by three individuals, one of whom opened fire on him before fleeing on foot.
The reason of the shooting is unknown and no one has been arrested are in custody, police said.
How It Happened
Law enforcement said that Stock was ambushed as he was exiting a premises near the city center landmark.
He had been present for hours at the site overseeing the installation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unknown people, according to reports.
"The report indicates the deceased was confronted by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they shot at him before escaping on foot," authorities confirmed.
Surveillance tape reportedly captured a man with dreadlocks and dressed in what resembled a security uniform opening fire on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was wounded but succumbed to his injuries on the opposite side of the road.
Officials noted that Stock had an weapon on his person and it was not a robbery during the assault.
Key evidence, like bullet casings, were found at the scene.

Police have appealed anyone who saw the event who may have seen the suspects to contact them.
"We know they walked a long distance after the shooting, and investigators have been following their trail to establish their whereabouts," added an official.

"Words fail me. I am shattered," she said.
"We know he was a voice for many people. He addressed issues courageously about topics not many people were ready to tackle. This is a devastating blow."
