New Details Surface About the Finding of the Reiner Couple's Remains

New information has come to light regarding the shocking passing of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their Brentwood, Los Angeles property on Sunday.

A Alarm

As detailed in an account citing a family associate, a therapist scheduled for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the home. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.

When she went into the home, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then fled the house in anguish, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Afterward, first responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Developments

The police have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, as well as the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now in custody and is ineligible for bail.

Disputed Reports

The confidential informant questioned several earlier details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that juncture.

The source also refuted circulated claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's behavior in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement includes accounts of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. While the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.

Investigation Timeline

Per law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports suggested the condition of their bodies implied they had been deceased for some hours.

Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the residence. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would not appear until Wednesday or later.
