Iranian Forces State Attack on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is not yet known and the United States has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.
Officials reported debris fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
