Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.
Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court after that period of 2023.
Success also indicates the Russian has secured 21 titles at 21 different tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, comprising in Halle previously this season.
Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to question if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.
Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced service.
He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.
The pair swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, took control to force a final set.
The opponent defended four early break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
