Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it's understandable for questions to be raised about his future following another convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 games, representing the club's poorest streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got a lot of support from management,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to turn it around and secure a win naturally but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it's typical that people question you.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I perceive the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Response

The manager lamented recurring failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It is not good enough. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell like this with performances like these.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until that badge is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to its rightful place, show everyone once more what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
